Privacy Statement


Credential Verification Bureau is committed to respecting your privacy and the privacy of the information in your account. That is why we have established this Privacy Statement. Our intention is to treat your information with utmost care and consideration. If you have questions or concerns regarding this statement, you should contact Us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and disclose information, including Personal Data, in connection with our Services.


For these purposes, “Personal Data” is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This Privacy Statement contains CVB's handling of personally identifiable information that is gathered when you are on Our site, and when You use Our services. This Privacy Statement applies exclusively to the site 

Data Collection

CVB is responsible for all personal information in its possession or control, including information that has been transferred to a third party for processing. CVB will use contracts or other means to provide an appropriate level of protection when a third party processes information on behalf of the company. CVB will, from time to time, establish procedures to implement its commitment to privacy, including (a) procedures to protect personal information (b) procedures to receive and respond to complaints and inquiries (c) communications and training programs to provide information to CVB staff about privacy policies and practices.

CVB limits the amount and type of personal information collected to that which is necessary for the identified purpose. CVB collects information by fair and lawful means. CVB may collect the following information from employees and contractors (a) demographic and contact information including home address and telephone number, date of birth, state or other government issued identification and insurance number (b) training, experience and skills as necessary to establish competence, and regulatory, employer or industry standards compliance (c) education and employment history (d) banking or financial information (d) health information (d) security background checks, as required.

CVB may collect the following personal information from customers of CVB (a) names and contact information, including home address and telephone numbers (b) HSE system and performance documentation, interview records, client employee HSE system compliance assessments, equipment assessments, COR audits, and any other relevant audit documentation (c) demographic information about customer(s) for CVB programs, including number and ages of employees interest in programs or facilities for system planning purposes (d) financial information, if members involved in programs with financial eligibility requirements, or where payment is required for programs or services (e) limited medical information for members or employees of members participating in business activities.

CVB may collect personal information through the following means (a) solicited and unsolicited resumes and correspondence (b) completed application forms (paper or on-line format) for employment, benefits, grants and bursaries, volunteer opportunities, business and other program registrations, etc. (c)  worksite audits, inspections and assessments in person and through telephone interviews (d)  on-line forms through the website.

CVB collects personally identifiable information when you register for a CVBTT account, when you fill out any form requesting information, support, or product and service information, and when you subscribe to our news. CVB may also receive personally identifiable information from its business partners.

CVB also automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, browser type, referrer page, domain name, access time, entry page, exit page, operating system type, and search engine keywords used.

Limitations on Data Use & Disclosure

CVB does not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Notwithstanding the above, CVB may disclose personal information without consent (a) to a lawyer representing CVB (b) to a company or individual employed by CVB to perform functions on its behalf (e.g. outsourced information processing function, administration of health services plan) (c) in order to collect a debt owed by the individual to CVB (d) to comply with a subpoena, warrant, or court order, as required or authorized by law (e.g. Employment Standards Legislation) (e)  when the information is publicly available (e.g. telephone directory information), to a public authority in the event of imminent danger to any individual. CVB obtains consent for all other disclosures of personal information for purposes other than those for which the information was initially collected (e.g. to provide references regarding current or former employees. CVB does not require consent to confirm an individual’s employment record (e.g. confirm years of employment, and position held). Only CVB employees, contractors or volunteers with a business need-to-know, or whose duties so require, are granted access to personal information.


CVB has developed guidelines and implemented procedures with respect to the retention of personal information. CVB retains personal information only as long as it is necessary for the identified purpose, or as required by law. Where personal information is used to make a decision about an individual, CVB retains the information, or the rationale for making the decision, long enough to allow the individual access to the information after the decision has been made. Personal information that is no longer required to fulfill the identified purposes or required by law to be retained is destroyed, erased or made anonymous.


To the extent permitted to do so, we will endeavor to inform you if we are required to disclose your Personal Data in response to a lawful request to do so. Except for transfers of information as described in our User Agreement or this Privacy Policy, we will not disclose any of your Personal Data to third parties without giving you the choice to opt-out of such of disclosure.

From time to time we may also use your Personal Data to provide you with information about our Services, including updates and changes relating to CVBTT. You may choose to “opt out” of receiving this type of information at any time by contacting Us.

Personal Data Access

Individuals who are paid subscribers to CVBTT will be provided with access to their personal information held by the company. Individuals have the right to challenge the accuracy and completeness of their personal information held by CVB, and to have it amended as appropriate. Such requests should be in writing. CVB responds to requests for access to personal information within 30 business days. In order to safeguard personal information, CVB may request sufficient information from the individual to verify that person’s identity. CVB provides individuals access to their personal information subject to limited and specific exceptions. CVB will refuse access to personal information if (a) CVB has disclosed information to a government institution for law enforcement or national security reasons (b) it would reveal personal information about a third party unless there is consent or a life-threatening situation (c) doing so could reasonably be expected to threaten the life or security of another individual (d) the disclosure would reveal confidential commercial information or (e)  the information is protected by solicitor-client privilege. If access to information is refused, CVB shall, in writing, inform the individual of the refusal, the reason(s) for the refusal, and any recourse the individual may have to challenge CVB decision.

Information Safeguards

CVB protects personal information against such risks as loss or theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, modification or destruction, regardless of the format in which it is held. CVB has developed and implemented information security policies and procedures that outline physical, organizational, and technological measures in place to protect personal information as appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These same measures are employed in the safeguarding and protection of information resources of CVB customers.


CVB protects personal information disclosed to, or processed by third parties by contractual agreements which address the following as necessary (a) identifying the types of records provided, collected, created, or maintained in order to deliver the service, and specifying any applicable privacy legislation (b) stipulating the confidentiality of the information and the purposes for which it is to be used (c) identifying the organization(s) having custody and control of the records, including the responsibility and process for handling requests for access to information (d) ensuring that third parties and their employees having access to CVB and information assets are aware of, and understand their responsibility to adhere to CVB information handling and security policies, including maintaining the confidentiality of personal information (e) ensuring that CVB has access to information produced, developed, recorded or acquired by third parties as a result of the contract, including timely access in response to requests for information, and specifying that third parties shall not deny access to, or retain custody of, personal information because of late or disputed payment for services (f) requiring third parties to report breaches of confidentiality and privacy to CVB within 48 hours of knowing that the breach occurred (g) addressing disaster recovery and backup of any information assets and systems in the custody of the third party (h) addressing the disposition (e.g. destruction or return) of all of CVB information assets (e.g. records, hardware, system documentation) upon termination of the contract (i) specifying any audit or enforcement measures that CVB will undertake to ensure that third parties comply with information handling and security provisions outlined in contractual agreements (for example, nondisclosure agreements, audit trails, regular review of third party access requirements, inspection of third party premises).



CVB investigate all complaints concerning compliance with its Privacy Policy, guidelines and practices, and responds within 30 days of receipt of a complaint. If a complaint is found to be justified, CVB takes appropriate measures to resolve the complaint including, if necessary, amending its policies and procedures. Individuals shall be informed of the outcome of the investigation regarding their complaint.

Policy Changes

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to account for new laws and technologies, changes to our Services, and for other related purposes. In the event that we amend this Privacy Policy, we will post a notice on our website.
